THE ELEVENTH ANNUAL
NATIONAL EDUCATION POLICY INSTITUTE (NEPI)
U.S. Capitol - Congressional Visitors Center - House Auditorium
Washington, DC
May 2, 2011
From ESEA in 1965, to NCLB in 2001 to President Obama's Blueprint 2009, public education remains a major conversational thread among America's citizenry and America's polity. The issues and themes have varied little in the past and current decade.
On May 2, 2011, the National Alliance of Black School Educators will convene one of its national policy institutes to examine three of those themes: EARLY LEARNING, CHOICE (vouchers & charters) and FEDERAL FUNDING FOR EDUCATION.
The purpose is to probe in-depth the perceptions, policy, political actions, the facts, and the reality "in the field and on the ground" surrounding these issues. NABSE believes the timing of this forum is critical. As the U.S. Congress debates and the public ruminates, NABSE will bring together practitioners, experts, and policy makers for a spirited and hard-hitting forum.
The institute is open to the public, however reservations are preferred. Please register by contacting either Ed Potillo at epotillo@nabse.org or Derricka Davis at ddavis@nabse.org or 1-800-221-2654.
